David Abromowitz & Associates are the Southern African agents for Princess Yachts and in addition, we are actively involved in matching buyers with new or pre-owned vessels. Power or sail, mono – or multihull, we can find the right boat for you. As the leading yachtbrokers with years of experience in the Marine Industry, we can lead you in the right direction.

We are also registered representatives with various new build boat yards and can offer assistance with direct purchase of production boats or any bespoke projects. We are also active members in the Cape Town Boatbuilding and Technology Initiative.

Jim Volkwyn

David Abromowitz

David Abromowitz has been involved in the South African Yachting Industry since its inception. Together with a few business colleagues they started a Marine Chandlery Business, a Sail Loft and a Mast Business. Throughout his career he was intimately involved with all aspects of the industry which stood him in good stead for setting up South Africa’s leading Brokerage business based in Cape Town.

Serving on various sailing related committees and a past Commodore of the RCYC and Chairman of the NSRI, David created relationships along the way which are still in place today, an invaluable asset in any business.

Not only involved on the business and administrative side of Sailing, he also has raced extensively locally and abroad, a career in racing spanning 4 decades with numerous awards and a number of ocean races with top results.

For over 15 years now ( 2011 ) he has been involved in the direct importation of Princess Motor yachts and the selling of new and pre-owned yachts and powerboats. With the Princess Yachts relationship David has been cruising in various parts of the world and has invaluable knowledge of faraway places that can be used in assisting with planning of charters and cruises worldwide. Rob Sharp

Rob has been involved with boats for 30 years and has recently joined as a full partner in the business. Having spent 22 years at a major marine equipment importer as the link between the boat yards and the various equipment manufacturers worldwide.

This has afforded him in-depth knowledge when it comes to appraising boats for sale or purchase.

Having worked with clients on bespoke projects, ranging from large cruising multihulls to one-off large racing boats, has equipped Rob with in-depth knowledge of specialist equipment required on board for these vessels.

Rob spent many years on the administrative side of the sport as well as racing all over the world. From the ‘Hong Kong to Vietnam Race’ to the ‘Admirals Cup’, and with multiple South Atlantic Races and the North Atlantic Double Handed Race, he has the experience to advise on various aspects of sailing.

He is also a multi decorated yachtsman with provincial and national colours, and is also a qualified Ocean Yachtmaster.
